An organisation aims to manufacture 3 products and transport them from 3 factories through four warehouses to five retailers. Based on the data provided (see Brightspace, file BMD0001ManSci1920.xlsx)

  1. Provide the mathematical model that would lead to an optimised delivery cost.(20 marks)
  2. Discuss in detail the approach used to develop the optimisation model using adedicated computer software. (20 marks)
  3. Providea critical evaluation of the results  (30 marks)
  4. Considering that Product 1 is no longer required to be delivered, review themodel developed and provide an optimised solution in this case. Discuss in detail your approach. (30 marks)

The mathematical model is required in this case. This model can be presented in relation to the transsipment model. Clear identification of variables, objective function and constrains are expected in this case.

20 marks are allocated to question 2

The way in which the mathematical model developed in section 1 is developed and implemented using a dedicated computer software is expected here.

A dedicated discussion on the results obtained is expected in this case. The results refer to the final delivery cost, delivery plan and meeting the required constraints. The discussion should incorporate “what-if” scenarios based on different changes of input data. The Excel file with the indicated solution needs to be submitted on-line in Brightspace.

A re-evaluation of the model developed is required in this case. A discussion on how this model needs to be implements to accommodate this change needs to be explained. The final solution should be provided and discussed in comparison with the answer obtained to question
